◇ fr. Qu'il y a loin de celui qui Le prend pour preuve, à celui qui cherche à Le prouver ! Celui qui Le prend pour preuve, connaît la réalité conformément à son rang: il déduit toute chose de son origine. Ne cherche à Le prouver que celui qui n’est pas parvenu jusqu'à Lui : quand donc est-Il disparu qu'il soit nécessaire de Le prouver ? Quand s’est-II éloigné pour que ce soient les traces de Son action qui nous fassent parvenir jusqu’à Lui ?

◇ En. What a difference between one who proceeds from God in his argumentation and one who proceeds inferentially to Him!

He who has Him as his starting-point knows the Real as It is, and proves any matter by reference to the Being of its Origin. But inferential argumentation comes from the absence of union with Him. Otherwise, when was it that he became absent that one has to proceed inferentially to Him? Or when was it that He became distant that created things themselves will unite us to Him?
